This morning, I helped an injured deer out of the road. Local police considered putting him down, but ended up deciding to let him live, hoping he'll survive.
He gave me a bit of a scare when he nearly hurt the woman who arrived on the scene before me. She was able to coax him into standing up and then I helped him to decide to leave the road. We did a bit of a dance before he decided which way he wanted to go.
Then, after everyone else left, he stuck around and let me photograph him. He could walk just fine, but one of his eyes was pretty much destroyed.
When the police arrived, I came out of the trees and led them to the deer. They brought an assault rifle and struggled over whether or not to put him down. They considered that he might have some brain damage and that it might be best to put him out of his misery, but he could get around OK and so they ended up deciding to let him wander off and hope that he survives.
and I hope he does.

struck down, but not destroyed

It was such an honor to get to photograph Aubrie’s wedding. I’ve known her since she was a little girl who would greet me at a run and wrap her little arms around my legs. She’s all grown up now, and what a lovely lady she has become…
Trevor and Aubrie are so very much in love -- it was very evident on their day and it is an energy that can be felt by anyone nearby. Congratulations to Aubrie and to her new husband Trevor. May God bless you and may your love continue to grow.

Sometimes I call her "Bugs"
God has blessed me with the most amazing little girl, but only in photographs will she continue to look the way I will always see her.

The Effects of Red Licorice
During a brief visit with our relatives in Southern California, I was able to catch our nephew, Brayden, showing a bit of his personality. The residue around his mouth is evidence of the red licorice he had just consumed.
His smile and energy are quite contagious.

Our Dear Cousin Janelle Laura
We were privileged to be able to attend the recent graduation of our cousin, Janelle, from Biola University. Afterwards, we went over to her apartment to celebrate and I left my flash and reflector there by the pool.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize my error until we were back at my wife's parents place (90 minutes away). The good news was that this provided my wife and I with the opportunity to visit her once more before driving home to northern California.
So, a couple of days later we drove by her place and took her out to coffee. This afforded us time to have a nice chat with her, without the rest of the family around and gave me the opportunity to make a somewhat hurried photograph of her.
